Safety Instructions

Safety Instructions
**General Safety Instructions** These must be taken into account each time the appliance is used: * Do not operate the grill in closed and/or habitable spaces, e.g. buildings, tents, caravans, motorhomes or boats. This poses a risk to life due to carbon monoxide poisoning. * CAUTION! Do not use spirits or gasoline to ignite or reignite the flames! Flammable liquids, when poured into the flames, may cause bursts of flames or explosions! * Use only firelighters complying with EN 1860-3! * CAUTION! This grilling appliance becomes very hot and may not be moved during operation! * CAUTION! Keep children and pets at a distance! * DO NOT use it in enclosed spaces! **Please Note:** It is recommended that you avoid using liquid BBQ lighters. These can affect the taste of your food, penetrate into the ceramic composite and thereby invalidate the warranty. Please only use solid fire starters that comply with EN 1860-3, such as wood wool or a separate chimney starter. Only place the BBQ meat, fish or vegetables on the grill when the charcoal is covered with a bright white/gray layer of ash.
**Further Safety Instructions** ***WARNING*** * **Risk of Deflagration**\ Flammable liquids that are poured on the embers cause flash flames or deflagrations. * DO NOT use spirits, petrol or similar liquids for lighting or relighting the grill! * DO NOT put pieces of charcoal soaked in flammable liquid onto the embers. * **Health Risk** * DO NOT use any decolourants or thinners to remove stains. These are harmful to health and must not come into contact with food. * Only place the BBQ meat, fish or vegetables on the grill grid when the charcoal is covered with a layer of ash. * **Risks to Children**\ While playing, children could become caught in the packing film and choke. * DO NOT let children play with the packaging wrapper. * Make sure that children do not put any small assembly parts into their mouths. They could swallow the parts and choke on them. * **Risk of Burning**\ The charcoal grill, the charcoal and the food become very hot during use. Any contact can result in serious burns. * Keep sufficient distance from hot parts. * Keep children and pets at a distance! * Always wear oven or BBQ gloves with heat protection when grilling (glove category acc. To DIN-EN 407). * Use only long-handled utensils with heat-resistant hand grips. * DO NOT wear any clothing with wide sleeves whilst using the kamado. * Use only dry lighters or special fluid lighters compliant with EN 1860-3 as firelighters. * Only operate the barbecue with charcoal in accordance with DIN EN 1860-2. * Allow the charcoal grill to cool down completely before cleaning or putting it away. * **Risk of Injury** * At high temperatures, open the lid slowly and carefully to allow the heat and steam to escape and to prevent the embers from flaring up due to the sudden supply of air.
***CAUTION*** * **Fire Hazard**\ Burning coals and BBQ components can get very hot during operation and can cause fires. * It is essential that you have a fire extinguisher and first-aid kit ready and be prepared in case of accident or fire. * Place the charcoal grill on an even, horizontal, secure, heat resistant and clean surface. * Set up the charcoal grill so that it is at least 40 inches (or 100 cm) away from highly flammable materials such as awnings, wooden patios or furniture. * DO NOT move the charcoal grill during use. * Ignite the charcoal only in a sheltered location. * Fill the grill with charcoal up to a maximum of 70% of the bowl. * Some foods produce flammable fats and juices. * Clean the charcoal grill regularly, preferably after each use. * Only remove the ash once the charcoal has completely burned out and cooled down. * **Risk of Burning and Accidents**\ This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory, or mental capacities or who are lacking in experience and/or knowledge. * Such persons must be informed about the dangers of the device and supervised by a person responsible for their safety. * Any modifications to the product represent a large safety risk and are forbidden. Wear protective gloves if necessary. * **Risk of Damage**\ During use, the screws can gradually become loose and impair the kamado’s stability. * Check the stability of the screws prior to each use. If necessary, tighten all of the screws again to ensure the grill is standing securely. inside of the kamado for barbecuing.

use. Any contact can result in serious burns.

* Keep sufficient distance from the hot parts, since any contact
can lead to severe burns.

  • Always wear oven or BBQ gloves when grilling.
  • Use only long-handled utensils with heat-resistant hand grips.
  • DO NOT wear any clothing with wide sleeves.

17. Cleaning

WARNING

  • Health Risk

DO NOT use any de-colorants or thinners to remove stains.
These are harmful to health and may never come into contact
with food.
Risk of Burning
The charcoal grill and the charcoal are very hot even after grilling.
Any contact can result in serious burns.

Allow the charcoal grill to cool down completely before cleaning.
Only remove the ash when the charcoal has completely burned
out.
* Risk of Damage

DO NOT use any strong or grinding solvent or abrasive pads,
since these can attach the surfaces and leave behind scrape
marks.
Remove the cold ashes.
It is very important that you remove the ash before moisture
combines with the cold ash. Ash is saline and, when moist,
will attach the inside of the ash collection tray. Thus, over the
course of years, the ash collecting tray can sustain damage
through rust.
Remove the BBQ Grill Grid, clean it thoroughly with soapy water
and rinse it down with clean water. Carefully dry off the BBQ
grill grid and insert it back into the BBQ.
The inside of the BBQ is self-cleaning.
CAUTION! Do not use water or cleaning products on the inside
of the BBQ. The walls are porous and absorb liquids, which can
cause cracks to form in the creaming lining when the BBQ is
next used.

18. Storage

  • Store the charcoal grill in a dry and dust-free place.
  • Check all the device parts before next use and tighten the screws and nuts if necessary.
  • If you cover the charcoal grill with a dust cover, make sure that the cover is only put on when the charcoal grill has cooled down and is clean and dry. Otherwise, it can lead to severe corrosion.
